BOKAKHAT: A major fire broke out on Tuesday night at the ‘Camellia Tea Factory’ located in Balijan under Morongi revenue circle in Golaghat district, reportedly due to an electrical malfunction. The gas-operated factory experienced a severe voltage fluctuation during the night, leading to the electrical fault.
Later, three workers went to restart the factory. However, due to the malfunction, there was a gas leak, and the moment the electricity was reconnected, the fire ignited. The three workers were immediately engulfed in flames and sustained serious injuries.
The factory’s workers and staff managed to extinguish the fire on their own and promptly sent the injured to Golaghat’s Shaheed Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital. The injured have been identified as Nirmal Gogoi, Madhurya Bora, and Budheswar Phukan. Among them, Nirmal Gogoi was later referred to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital for advanced treatment.
