BONGAIGAON: In a major crackdown, the Government Railway Police (GRP) at New Bongaigaon conducted a successful operation on Wednesday, seizing a large consignment of illegal liquor from the Namnimua Saraighat Express.
During the raid, authorities arrested three individuals, Subhash Kumar Sahani, Manoj Kumar Paswan, and Pawan Kumar, all residents of Bihar. The trio were caught attempting to transport 274 bottles of illicit liquor from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri. The contraband was concealed inside trolley bags and backpacks.
The operation marked another step in the GRP’s ongoing efforts to curb the illegal transport of liquor across state borders via railway routes. Investigation is currently underway to identify potential links to a larger supply network.
