DOOMDOOMA: A gruesome murder took place at Doomdooma on Thursday evening when a man killed his wife after a heated altercation that took place between them.
It is gathered that Kishore Tanti, a resident near the Shiva temple on Azad road and a retired employee of Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), killed his wife Monika Moran Tanti (46 years) by striking her on the head with a stone slab during a quarrel.
According to eyewitness reports, the couple had returned home from the market on a scooty at around 7 pm when an argument took place between them at home. Gradually, it turned violent as Kishore Tanti in a fit of anger struck his wife on her head with a stone slab. As a result Monika was gravely injured and bled profusely.
Immediately after the incident, Kishore fled the spot on the scooty. Neighbours then quickly informed the 108 ambulance service and Monika was rushed to Doomdooma 30-Bedded FRU hospital where she was declared brought dead by the doctors. In the meantime, police arrived at the scene and started an investigation. The deceased, Monika Moran Tati is survived by two young daughters aged around 17 and 10 years respectively.
The exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Monika was the second wife of Kishore Tanti. His first wife died earlier.
