Guwahati-bound tea-laden truck goes missing

BISWANATH CHARIALI: The incident of the disappearance of a truck carrying tea from Biswanath Chariali to Guwahati has created sensation here.

According to information, the truck bearing number AS 01 DD 1637 left for Guwahati on June 28 after taking 18 tonnes of tea bags worth Rs 50 lakh from Monbari and Helem Tea Estates. But when the truck did not reach Guwahati, the roadways company got suspicious and called up the driver, but his phone was found to be switched off. After preliminary investigation, it came to light that the registration number of the truck was fake. A case has been registered with Gingia police station regarding this incident and the police have started investigation by registering a case number 98/2021.
