Bokakhat: The Educational-Cultural Unity and Upliftment Meeting for the month of June, organized by the South Mahura Primary Teachers’ Centre under Bokakhat subdivision, was held on Saturday at Gariya Borpathar Milan Primary School in Komargaon.

The event began with a group song performed by the students of the school. The meeting was presided over by Suwarna Neog, the head teacher of Lokapriya Primary School. The central representative, Pranab Saikia, inaugurated the session.

Two recently retired head teachers — Minati Gogoi (from Nagabali Primary School) and Kabita Bora (from Gariya Borpathar Milan Primary School) — were given a heartfelt farewell by fellow teachers of the centre, the school management committee, the mothers’ group, and parents. They were honoured with gamosas , safuras, farewell citations, book bundles, and symbolic mementos of the rhinoceros.

The event also featured speeches from several dignitaries, including Ritul Bora (Coordinator of Mahura Mandal Samal Centre), retired teacher Maheshwar Rabidas, founding member of Milan Primary School Juwan Chandra Saikia, social worker Rajib Saikia, and president Durlabh Saikia, along with the two retiring teachers — Minati Gogoi and Kabita Bora.
