TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) along with the rest of the State and nation, as a part of its first phase of protest against the Central Council of Indian Medicine's (CCIM) decision allowing Ayurvedic PG doctors to practice various surgeries, observed sit-in for two hours at IMA House, Tinsukia on Tuesday.

Terming it to be a "khichidi" medical system by integrating all systems of medicine, Dr Anil Borkataky, president of IMA Tinsukia, said that permitting such practice was likely to put life of patients in jeopardy if made operational. DrBorkataky demanded immediate roll back of the CCMI notification for the greater interest of the society. Maintaining COVID protocol, 20 members, including doctors from Dental Association, participated in the demonstration.

In its second phase of agitation, the IMA has given a call to all doctors practising modern medicine to withdraw non-essential and non-COVID services from 6 am to 6 pm on December 11.
