‘Indian Railways to boost Assam Tea Tourism’- Deputy Chief General Manager Anuj Dutta

JORHAT: Indian Railways will give a major thrust to boost tea tourism in Assam along with other tourism network and industry, with Majuli, Kaziranga among a few focus points. There will be visitors during the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland and tourist spots from Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur will also gain significance, being a part of the Bharat Darshan program within the period of 2019-20, said the Deputy Chief General Manager (CGM) from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation of the NF Railway Anuj Dutta, while briefing to the press at the Jorhat Press Club here today.

The deputy CGM of the IRCTC said that for the first time the Bharat Darshan program will be kicked off from August 26 as the Bharat Darshan train namely Ganga Shaan will leave Guwahati on August 26, 2019 with 800 passengers that will travel for 9 days and 8 night. The booking process is on as the special package comprises of medical, security, travel escorts among IRCTC during the nine-day tour. Moreover, from each traveler only an amount of Rs 8505 as package fees will be collected. The tour includes to and fro travel fare, along with lodging and food. The train comprises of 16 compartments which will start from Guwahati and travel via Haridwar, Hrishikesh and also many other pilgrimage and tourists spots and will be back to Guwahati. Bharat Darshan in Ganga Shaan will be one of the low cost package in the history of Indian Railways and the train will stop in the jurisdiction of the NF Railway major stations only like in New Bongaigaon, New Kochbihar, New Jalpaiguri and at Katihar and will make no other stoppage till its destination at Haridwar.

Indian Railways will start its second Bharat Darshan trip on November 3 from Agartala via Guwahati and will reach Amritsar, Baishnodevi Temple and its third trip will start from December 4, 2019 from Dibrugarh to Puri and Konark. For the November 3 trip, the package charge will be Rs 10,395 which will also include Golden Temple, Jallianwalla Bagh and Wagha Border. In the December 4 trip to Puri the package charge has been fixed at Rs 8505 which will also include visit to Jagannath Dham, Puri sea beach among Sun Temple.
