GOLAGHAT: The 142 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) enthusiastically observed International Yoga Day on Saturday at its headquarters in Golaghat, Assam, in line with the national initiative promoting health, wellness, and discipline through the practice of yoga.
The day commenced with a mass yoga session organized at the CRPF Headquarters, the occasion saw enthusiastic participation from Gazetted Officers, Subordinate Officers, Jawans, and their family members, highlighting the battalion’s dedication to physical fitness, mental well-being, and a disciplined lifestyle through the regular practice of yoga.
In coordination with the district administration of DAB (Disputed Area Belt), various Companies (Coys) deployed in the region also organized yoga sessions in collaboration with local civilians, school children, and administrative officials, demonstrating CRPF’s efforts to promote unity and health at the grassroots level.
The celebration was further enriched by the presence of around 250 students and teachers from reputed educational institutions of Golaghat.
The session featured a systematic sequence of asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation, all aimed at promoting inner peace, flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.
Addressing the gathering, Commandant Mohinder Kumar, 142 Bn CRPF, highlighted the transformative and holistic benefits of yoga, calling it a profound discipline that harmonizes the mind, body, and soul. He encouraged all participants to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily routine to build resilience and contribute to a healthier, more balanced society.
SIVASAGAR: Yoga Day was celebrated at the historic Rang Ghar premises in Sivasagar. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” emphasized the holistic benefits of yoga for global well-being.
The event at Rang Ghar was organized jointly by the National AYUSH Mission and the Sivasagar District Administration.
Union Minister Pabitra Margherita attended the programme as the chief guest. Also present at the event were District Commissioner Aayush Garg, Superintendent of Police Subhra Jyoti Bora and employees from various government and private institutions, along with a large number of students and youth participants.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Margherita said that yoga is an integral part of Indian civilisation and lifestyle, and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the initiative to introduce yoga to the global stage through the United Nations. He noted that today, International Yoga Day is observed in 193 countries across the world.
Jayanta Bez served as the yoga instructor during the session held at Rang Ghar, guiding participants through various asanas and breathing techniques.
DIBRUGARH: Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2025 with great enthusiasm under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
The event aimed to promote holistic well-being and highlight the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for a healthier and more balanced lifestyle.
Organized in association with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Unit of BCPL, the session witnessed the participation of around 100 individuals, including employees and CISF personnel. Yoga practitioners from a reputed yoga centre conducted demonstrations of various asanas and addressed the gathering on the benefits of regular yoga practice.
Joyonto Panging, Chief Operating Officer of BCPL, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was also attended by Sitangshu Paul, CGM (O&M), Pradeep Rawat, GM (Chemical); and Upasana, Deputy Commandant, along with other senior officials, employees, and CISF personnel. As part of its commitment to promoting health and wellness, BCPL also undertook several other initiatives to spread awareness about yoga, collaborating with institutions and media platforms.
DHEKIAJULI: In a vibrant display of health awareness and cultural pride, the 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated across Dhekiajuli on Saturday with great zeal. The BJP Dhekiajuli Mandal organized a special yoga session at the historic Shaheed Smarak Udyan, echoing the message “Do Yoga, Stay Healthy.”
Simultaneously, the Dhirai Majuli Auditorium under Thelamara Mandal witnessed an inspiring celebration in the gracious presence of the MLA of 66 No. Barchala Constituency, Ganesh Kumar Limbu. His presence added significance to the day, encouraging citizens to embrace yoga for holistic well-being.
Adding to the day’s highlights, the NCC unit of Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College hosted a dedicated session in the college community hall, aligning with this year’s theme, “One Earth, One Health.” The session began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by noted instructor Poly Hazarika, Captain Dr Jyotshna Baruah, and Dr Pitambar Sedai.
SILCHAR: In a unique confluence of physical wellness and cultural heritage, the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers of Cachar College commemorated International Yoga Day with a yoga session at the historic Khashpur Rajbari, a significant archaeological site. The event was a unique effort to not only promote the age-old practice of yoga but also highlight the importance of preserving rich heritage monuments of this valley.
Khaspur Rajbari, also known as Kachari Fort, is a historical site located in Khaspur, about 20 kilometers from Silchar, Assam. Khaspur once served as the capital of the Dimasa Kachari kingdom and is renowned for its historical landmarks like the Singha Dwar, Surya Dwar, and several ancient temples. Although the main palace has not withstood the test of time, some of its associated structures, including the gateways and temples, still stand today.
Suman Paul, the yoga instructor and founder of ‘The Yogi-Yoga Studio’ addressed the gathering and elaborated on the theme of International Yoga Day 2025 — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” He explained how yoga fosters not only physical and mental balance but also promotes harmony with nature and sustainable living. He then took the lead in guiding all participants through a comprehensive yoga session which includes Surya Namaskar and various asanas focused on enhancing physical strength, mental clarity, and inner peace. After the yoga session, cadets and volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive on the campus as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Regarding this event, caretaker officers Dr Joyobrato Nath and Ankita Ghosh said, “Keeping our ancient heritage in mind, such events help to connect people with history. At the same time, it also reminds us of our responsibility to recognize and preserve our national monuments. The celebration of International Yoga Day at the ruins of the Kachari Kingdom by the world’s largest uniformed youth organisation will definitely be widely shared on various social media platforms, and people from all over the world will get to know about this place.”
Dr Dipyaman Mohanta, NSS Program Officer, in his statement, mentioned that such initiatives have the potential to attract tourists, heritage enthusiasts, and scholars from across the country and beyond, thereby boosting cultural tourism in the region.
DOOMDOOMA: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Chapakhowa by Sadiya Co-District Administration along with the rest of the country.
The yoga camp was attended by officers and employees of various departments and institutions and Assistant Commissioners Porcia Khanikar, Ankit Mitra, Chapakhowa Municipal Board Chairperson Bichandravati Sonowal, CRFF 68th Battalion, Sadiya Camp Inspector Ranjit Jat and Sub-Inspector Tedinshivou, Poddar Sriprasad, ASTAN Assistant Sub-Inspector Suchen Gogoi, Red Cross Society Sadiya Branch Secretary Gunin Chutia, Members Andeswar Pav, Mulban Gogoi, VHP Secretary Bimal Deka, Sadiya Education Sector Resource Person Bipul Upadhyay and several prominent citizens of the area.
The yoga camp was officially inaugurated by Sadiya Co-District Commissioner Manasjyoti Nath by lighting a lamp. Head Assistant, Co-District Commissioner’s Office, Jonamani Kalita conducted the proceedings while yoga instructor Lochan Rimal conducted the yoga camp and delivered a brief speech.
After the speech of the Co-District Commissioner on the yoga camp, a live broadcast of the speech of the Prime Minister on the yoga camp was shown, and everyone practised yoga as conducted by instructor Lochan Rimal.
MORIGAON: Along with the rest of the country, the International Yoga Day was celebrated with pomp & gaiety in Morigaon district too today. Morigaon Sadar Thana Gaon Rakhi Bahini celebrated the International Yoga Day along with the district administration and the police administration at Morigaon Bihutoli ground today. The yoga programme was attended by SP Hemanta Kr. Das, president of STNC Sanjib Bora, and VDP organizer Diganta Kalita. Altogether, 150 VDP presidents and secretaries took part in the yoga day.
BISWANATH CHARIALI: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated in Biswanath district on Saturday by the Biswanath District Administration at Kamalakanta Natya Samaj Hall, in which Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Irrigation, Government of Assam, Ashok Singhal, took part as the Chief Guest.
Participating in the yoga practice, Minister Singhal said yoga is India’s invaluable gift to the world. The country’s illustrious Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has succeeded in popularizing this yoga, which is an integral part of 5,000 years of Indian civilization, to the entire world. He said the Union Ministry of Ayush has organized ten special programmes like Yoga Sangam, Yoga Park, Yoga Samavesh, Harit Yoga, Yoga Unplugged, Samayog, Yoga Bandhan, Yoga Prabhav, Yoga Connect and Yoga Mahakumbh in conjunction with the 11th International Yoga Day.
On the occasion, he urged the people to resolve to practise yoga as a part of their daily lives and contribute to building a healthy society.
