MORIGAON: The Assistant Director of Jute Development under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, A Ansari, on Thursday visited the agricultural sector in Morigaon district. During the visit, the officer inspected the process of implementation of the National Food Security Mission CC_JUTE and the Agricultural Mepar app under the Kharif Weather 2025-26.

The Assistant Director was accompanied by Dr Arunima  Dev Chowdhury, State Advisor of National Food Security Mission, during his visit to Morigaon. The officer first visited Garaimari under Rajamayang agriculture circle and inspected the improved NJ-7010 (Rani) Jute cultivation planted under the food and nutrition scheme led by Garaimari Farmer Producer Company under the 2024-25 scheme. He then discussed the addition of production and marketing with the farmers and highlighted how they have benefited from the departmental schemes and enquired whether they have received all the benefits on time.

In addition, the members of the farmer group were distributed improved rice_1 varieties of paddy seeds. The officer then inspected the cultivation of cotton planted under the departmental scheme by Rafiqul Islam, a progressive farmer of Charaihagi under Morigaon agricultural circle. The officer was accompanied by Subdivisional Agriculture Officer Mehedi Hussain and Agriculture Sub-Inspector Dibyajyoti Hazarika.
