KHERONI: The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KA-DCC) organized a one-day convention for all Block and Mandal Presidents and office bearers at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, Diphu, on August 11, starting at 11 am. The event aimed to bolster the party’s grassroots presence across the district in preparation for the upcoming Assam Assembly election in 2026.

The convention was graced by Manoj Chauhan, secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and co-incharge of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included APCC office bearers Bitupon Saikia, general secretary and In-Charge of KA-DCC, Ashok Teron, general secretary, Pallav Chetia, secretary, Purnima Ronghangpi, secretary, and Supratim Kor, secretary. Also present were Jagat Sing Engti, former MLA, Mahesh Kumar Chauhan, former Deputy Chairman of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), and KA-DCC President Raton Engti.

In his address, Manoj Chauhan highlighted pressing issues of alleged corruption in the KAAC under the leadership of Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, as well as in the Assam government led by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also spoke about the Special Inclusive Revision (SIR) recently conducted in Bihar, emphasizing its relevance to organizational strategies.
