Karbi Anglong: General Secretary of Karbi militant outfit, PDCK arrested

Bokajan: The general secretary of the Karbi militant outfit, People's Democratic Council of Karbi Longri (PDCK) was arrested by Assam Police on Thursday. The self-styled general secretary of PDCK, Nongme Tungjang alias Sanjib Phangcho was nabbed from a hideout of the outfit in the jungle in the Thekerajan area under Bakalia police station.

Based on intelligence information, the Karbi Anglong police launched an operation in the Thekerajan area, said the police. Various incriminating items were seized from the general secretary along with one 7.65 pistol with four live ammunition, extortion letters, and two mobile phones.

In the month of June this year, another four cadres of the Karbi militant outfit were arrested in the Karbi Anglong district. The police recovered around cash Rs 3.01 lakh from the four cadres. Huge cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

PDCK is a Karbi militant group, which is mainly active in the Karbi Anglong district and a few parts of Hojai, Dima Hasao and Nagaon districts.
