MORIGAON: Kargil Vijay Diwas was observed with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at Charon Beel on Saturday. The event was organized by Mera Yuva Bharat, Morigaon—an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India—in collaboration with NAHAR Youth Club.
The day began with a plantation drive initiated by the Forest Department, Morigaon, during which Chiranjib Banik, the Beat Officer of Morigaon Forest Office, planted saplings of various tree species inside the Charon Beel Park, promoting environmental consciousness among the youth.
Following the plantation drive, a “Swahid Tarpan” (martyrs’ tribute) ceremony was held to honor the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War. The event was graced by notable attendees including Cheniram Malang, president of AATSU, and Joyram Deka and Tulsi Deka, president of JJKS, among others. The entire programme was marked by a spirit of reverence and national pride, as the local community came together to remember and pay tribute to the heroes of Kargil.
