Man detained for killing elder brother in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his elder brother in Sarupathar under Dhansiri subdivision on Tuesday night. The accused, Niyon Sutradhar, in a sudden fit of rage allegedly attacked his sibling --Chanchal Sutradhar -- with a fragment of bamboo when the latter was returning from the market. The elder brother suffered critical head injuries and died on the spot. The motive behind the killing was a clash between the two brothers over the property.

The accused was arrested and booked under section 302 of IPC and sent to the district jail of Golaghat. Later, the police seized the blood-stained bamboo fragment from the spot and sent the victim's body to the Golaghat civil hospital for postmortem.
