TANGLA: The part of MB Road (Mangaldai-Bhutiachang Road) from Kalaigaon to Paneri via Tangla at a stretch of 19.03 km has developed large and deep potholes. According to reports, due to lack of timely repairing, the road portion in areas like Tokonkata, Kulsipar, Meseka and Nizjalah has developed potholes, which have travelling by this road stretch a harrowing experience for people.

Pertinently, the vital road under State PWD connecting Mangaldai with other important places of Udalguri district, namely Kalaigaon, Tangla, Paneri, Bhutiachang etc has been the lifeline for people of Udalguri and Darrang districts since long. Besides, it is the only available road link for most of the tea gardens of Udalguri district, besides the strategically important Army's Brigade HQ at Hatigarh. The vital MB Road, which was also been declared as the State Highway No.4 several years back, saw the construction of second phase of MB Road from Kalaigaon to Paneri covering a distance of 19.03 km under Chief Minister's Assam Vikash Yojana during the Congress regime at an estimated amount of Rs 28.77 crore. It was formally inaugurated on February 14, 2011 by then BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary.

The people of Udalguri and Darrang districts, along with Udalguri district committee of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), have demanded immediate repair of the stretch of MB Road from Kalaigaon to Panery in greater interest of people.
