KOKRAJHAR: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo on Tuesday chaired a meeting on child rights organized by the Kokrajhar district administration at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Kokrajhar.
Addressing the House, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka welcomed the NCPCR chairman and thanked him for holding a consultative meeting on such important and critical issues of the district.
In the meeting, the District Child Protection Officer informed the house about the measures taken by them to address various issues like child rights, child trafficking, early marriage, etc through a power point presentation.
Speaking at the meeting, NCPCR Chairperson Kanoongo gave details on the available provisions to protect the child rights, including POCSO and the factors hindering the Implementation and aspects of assistance to victims. He also exchanged views on child trafficking, child rights with the members present in the meeting.
The programme was also attended by Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) Chairperson Dr. Sunita Chankakati, Additional Deputy Commissioner, heads of departments concerned and other stakeholders.
