Tezpur: Pijush Hazarika, Minister of Water Resources, Information & Public Relations, and Guardian Minister for Sonitpur district, conducted an official visit to Sonitpur on Saturday. During his visit, he chaired a review meeting at the conference hall of the District Commissioner office to assess the implementation of various key government welfare schemes in the district. In the presence of MLAs Prithiraj Rava, Ganesh Kumar Limbu and Krishnakamal Tanti, the Minister reviewed progress under flagship schemes including Mukhyamantrir Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan 2.0, Orunodoi 3.0, and the Mukhyamantrir Mahila Udyamita Abhijan. He took detailed reports from district officials on the execution of these programmes and directed them to ensure 100% effective implementation. The minister emphasized that every eligible beneficiary must receive the benefits and instructed officials to maintain close monitoring and accountability in the process.

Minister Hazarika visited Borachuburi in Da-Parbatia under Tezpur constituency to inspect areas severely affected by erosion and flooding caused by a breach in the Brahmaputra River. He interacted with local residents and took stock of the ground situation. After the inspection, he instructed the departmental engineers to take immediate steps for erosion control and to close the breach at the earliest.

He highlighted that sealing the breach would not only benefit flood-prone areas within the Tezpur Legislative Assembly Constituency but also help protect crucial establishments such as the Medical College and ITBP base, as well as large parts of the Borchola constituency, from recurring flood damage.
