Mock drill on treatment of coronavirus patient conducted at Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur district administration and the District Health Services Department have continued the conduct of all kinds of effective precautionary and protective measures in order to combat the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the district.

In this regard, the District Legal Services Authority has also extended assistance with regard to creating awareness among the people on the symptoms of the fatal pandemic and how to deal with the baseless rumours related to the viral disease.

As part of the measures adopted to tackle any situation related to the pandemic, a mock-drill on the treatment of coronavirus patient was held in Lakhimpur on Sunday under the auspices of the District Health Services Department. The mock-drill was conducted at North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital (NLCH) wherein Joint Director in-charge of District Health Services, Dr. Gunin Kumar Gogoi, NLCH Superintendent Dr. Nikhil Kakati, four nurses and other medical employees took part. The mock-drill focused on what precautionary measures should be taken while shifting the coronavirus patient by ambulance and what precautionary measures should be taken by the medical staff while receiving and treating the patient.

In this regard, the Joint Director in-charge and the NLCH Superintendent held a practical elaboration and exhibition about the due activities and measures in front of the medical employees and the public with a view to controlling further spread of the fatal COVID-19.

The due coronavirus screening is continuing at Lilabari Airport under the district. In addition to it, the Health Department has continued the conduct of micro-level awareness programmes among the masses without organizing mass gathering. The people of the district, who were staying outside the State due to their jobs, have been advised to maintain home isolation for a period of 14 days after coming back home.
