Haflong: All the government offices, including N C Hills Autonomous Council Secretariat, were worth a visit on Monday as most employees under the administrative control of NCHAC wore traditional attire, creating a mosaic of colours.

North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council on October 31, 2019 instructed that all officers and staff under the administrative control of NCHAC, Haflong must wear traditional attire/dress of their respective community in the office every Monday. This order is for employees of both entrusted departments and normal sector. This dress code is also applicable to CEM/EMs/MACs. Non-compliance of the order will lead to deduction of one month’s salary. The order came into force from November 4.

All the staffs under the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council have come to their offices wearing their respective traditional attires. The objective of wearing traditional clothes every Monday is to ensure that the cultural beauty of different communities of the district is highlighted, which will be a step towards cultural integration among different indigenous tribes of Dima Hasao. The response from all the EMs, MACs and staffs and officials of different departments under the NCHAC was so encouraging that almost all the employees, including males, wore their respective traditional attires.
