DIBRUGARH: The National Statistics Office (NSO), Field Operations Division (FOD), Regional Office-Dibrugarh, successfully organized a camp focused on the self-compilation of schedules for the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2023-24 on Thursday. Altogether 55 participated from 29 industries.
The event took place at the RO Dibrugarh office and aimed to sensitize and encourage industry partners to engage in self-compilation of schedules via a user-friendly portal developed by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI).
During the opening session, Subrata Das, Assistant Director, warmly welcomed the participating industry partners and commended their enthusiastic engagement, reflecting a shared commitment to improving the quality of industrial data in India.
The camp was inaugurated by R.N. Soreithem, Joint Director at NSO (FOD), Dibrugarh, who highlighted the critical role of ASI data in determining the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the nation’s economy. He emphasized that self-compilation of schedules significantly enhances data quality and fosters a sense of data ownership among industry stakeholders, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information collected.
Soreithem expressed appreciation for the active involvement of industry partners and underscored the importance of cultivating strong relationships between the NSO and the industries. He urged the partners to leverage accurate data for the growth and development of the national economy.
The camp was specifically designed to engage industry representatives, providing guidance on using the self-compilation portal while stressing the importance of accurate data submission for the benefit of India’s industrial landscape.
Experts from NSO (FOD) conducted detailed demonstrations on effectively completing schedules through the digital portal. Attendees were guided through the nuances of the online filing process, with a particular focus on correctly interpreting various terminologies and accurately filling out specific sections of the schedules.
In addition to addressing procedural aspects, the workshop emphasized the significance of accurate data reporting for enhancing India’s industrial statistics. The initiative aims to alleviate the administrative burden on businesses while ensuring a more efficient and streamlined data collection process, which is vital for economic planning and policy formulation.
Feedback from industry participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the clarity and insights provided by NSO experts. Attendees demonstrated their commitment to utilizing the portal for timely and accurate submissions moving forward.
