BOKAKHAT: Bokakhat MLA and Minister Atul Bora has been engaged in visiting flood-affected areas of his constituency, day and night. In order to assess the latest flood situation, the minister visited several flood-hit locations in the Bokakhat region on Thursday as well. He interacted with residents of areas like Kuruabahi and Chinakan, gathering firsthand information on the extent of damage and the ongoing relief efforts.
Minister Bora also visited the flood relief camps set up for affected people at Numaligarh Higher Secondary School, Pub Kuruabahi ME School, and Chinakan. During his visits, local residents openly shared their concerns and grievances. The minister informed them in detail about the various forms of assistance and facilities being provided.
He also urged the concerned officials to ensure that the flood-affected people do not face any difficulties in receiving aid or compensation. Accompanying the minister during this visit were Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Pulak Mahanta, Bokakhat Sub-Divisional Officer, Revenue Circle Officers, Panchayat representatives, and local leaders of the BJP and AGP.
Meanwhile, a tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when Subhash Orang, a youth from B Palashguri in Bokakhat constituency, lost his life after drowning in floodwaters. Minister Bora expressed deep sorrow over the incident and personally visited the bereaved family on Thursday. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences and handed over the official documents for the Rs 4 lakh financial assistance provided by the Government of Assam to the victim’s family.
