MANGALDAI: An incident of devastating fire took place on Friday here at Ward No 5. According to Subrata Shil, the Ward Member, the fire first originated at a semi-pucca residence of one Moinul Haque due to an electric short circuit. However, it turned serious once the cooking cylinder exploded and the fire spread to nearby houses, following which two more cooking cylinders exploded. Six fire tenders with support from police and locals could bring the fire under control after more than an hour of effort. Three houses were completely gutted in the incident, while one Mukut Ali (45 years) sustained serious burn injuries. He was admitted to Mangaldai Civil Hospital for treatment.
