MANGALDAI: In their continuing initiative to offer scope to the younger talents in amateur photography in showcasing their expertise and skills and to help them in transforming their hobby into professional photography, Darrang Photographic Society organized an exhibition of photography for the third consecutive year at the open ground of Mangaldai Sanatan Dharma Sabha along the bank of river Mangaldai on Saturday and Sunday.
In the photography exhibition titled ‘Infinity 3.0’, a total of 124 photographs of 70 young and established photographers were aesthetically displayed in the iluminated lush green open ground. The exhibition featured rare wildlife photographs of Orang, Kaziranga, and Manah National Park as well as the works of photographers from London, Dubai, and Kolkata.
“The photographs displayed various subjects including landscape, wildlife, astro, street, aerial, sports, wedding, fashion, and rural life framed by established and novice photographers. Our intention is to create a platform to provide the scope to the budding talents. We are thankful to the visitors for their overwhelming support,” said office bearer of the Darrang Photographic Society and internationally acclaimed photographer Gautam Deka while talking to ‘The Sentinel’ today evening.
Earlier, octogenarian artist Barun Barua ceremonially inaugurated the photography exhibition while mediaperson Bhargab Kumar Das offered homage to departed photographers of repute Chandra Shekhar Roy and Bhaskar Chakravarty by lighting an earthen lamp in the traditional way. Senior journalist Mayukh Goswami, AASU activist Khanindra Rajbongshi, budding danseuse Neharika Kalita, and a good number of dilettantes attended the inaugural function and appreciated the initiative of Darrang Photographic Association.
