(Assam-Arunachal border) Boimara:  In an unfortunate event as many as 17 people injured in a road accident near Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on Friday (January 1).

On the first day of the year a group of  people from Bamunibari village in Jamugurihat who went on a picnic trip met with an accident near Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border while returning home and 17 people got seriously injured.

The incident took place at Boimara in Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border when they were on their way home from a picnic from Silchar by a Bolero pic-up van. They tried to pass the a vehicle coming from the opposite direction while their car overturned and fell down on the road side.

The 17 critically injured people were rushed to North Jamugurihat Primary Hospital for medical treatment, but later they were sent to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) for better medical treatment.

Earlier in 2018 as many as 15 Army personnel from the Rangapara-Thakurbari based 166th Assam Regiment who were returning from Bhalukpong-Baramile area near Assam Arunachal border after enjoying picnic were injured after their car skidded off the road in Sonitpur district of Assam. Later they were taken to a hospital in Tezpur for medical treatment.

In an another incident on December a group of three friends- Rohit Kumar Roy, John Paul Tirkey and Ananda Mishra from Chandmari, Guwahati who went for a picnic trip to Bogamati picnic spot in Baksa district got severely injured on their way returning home after their vehicle in which they were travelling lost control and turned upside down at the Udalguri-Tamulpur road.
