Relief Items Distributed on International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Tamulpur district

Tamulpur district administration hosted a meeting on International Day of PwD to promote rights and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities.

GORESWAR: In connection with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Tamulpur district administration organized a meeting in collaboration with the social welfare department at the premises of the ICDS office of Tamulpur on Wednesday to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities at every level of society and development and to raise awareness of the situation of disabled persons in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

The well-attended meeting was presided over by Deben Das, office assistant of the Tamulpur Women and Child Development office. Relief items such as wheelchairs, hearing machines, and crutch stands were distributed among the disabled of Tamulpur district in the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Kabita Phangchu, Additional Commissioner of Tamulpur; Bijit Gwira Narzary, MCLA of Darangajuli BTC constituency; Brihaspati Boro, president of Tamulpur District Disabled Association; Irani Thakuriya, officer of Women and Child Development department; Dulumani Das, ICDS project officer; among others.
