Residents nab drug peddlers in Darrang

Darrang: Residents of Khataniapara in Darrang nabbed two drug peddlers who used to frequent the locality to sell and consume drugs. A syringe and a vile filled with drugs were recovered from the possession of the youths. They were later handed over to the Dhula police.

The youths used to buy drugs from a local drug dealer identified as Joynal Abedin.

Assam Minorities Sangram Parishad and AMSU have demanded strict action against the peddlers and Joinal Abedin, the main drug dealer who has been supplying drugs to the two youths. The youths confessed to have bought the drugs from Abedin. The two youths are from Mangaldoi area.

According to the residents, substance abuse and drugs dealership had become common in the area.
