GORESWAR: In view of the BTC election 2025, a significant review meeting was held on Friday at the conference hall of the Circuit House in Tamulpur, organized by the Tamulpur district administration under the supervision of the State Election Commission, Assam.
The meeting was presided over by the Commissioner of the State Election Commission, Assam, Ranjan Sharma, and attended by the District Commissioner of Tamulpur, Pankaj Chakravarty. The Commissioner discussed with officials from various departments regarding the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming BTC election.
Detailed discussions were held on election preparations, security arrangements, and voter awareness programmes. From the police department, Senior Superintendent of Police Diganta Kumar Choudhury gave a presentation on various aspects of the district’s election-related measures.
Officials raised issues such as relocation of polling stations, problems related to inclusion of names in the voter list, deletion of names of deceased persons, and inclusion of names of prominent individuals.
The State Election Commissioner suggested that all such issues be resolved in consultation with political stakeholders.
The District Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty announced a new initiative under the theme ‘Green Election,’ aimed at promoting environment-friendly voting practices. This programme will focus on the avoidance of plastic use, promotion of electric vehicles, cleanliness, and related measures.
Apart from State Election Commissioner Ranjan Sharma and District Commissioner-cum-District Elecs of the State Election Commission, Senior Superintendent of Police of Tamulpur Diganta Kumar Choudhury, officers of the district administration, and officials from various concerned departments.
