NAGAON: The district road safety committee under the Nagaon district administration, in collaboration with Motorhead United MC Assam and support from Nagaon IMFL Retailer Association, organized a road safety awareness bike rally throughout Nagaon district on Sunday.
The rally started at the District Commissioner’s office premises and proceeded through Nagaon town, Jakhalabandha, and Bagori before concluding back in Nagaon. The event aimed to create awareness about road safety, avoiding speeding, and preventing accidents.
Notable attendees included Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Assam, Rupak Sarmah, MLA, Nagaon-Batadroba Assembly constituency, Devashish Sarma, District Commissioner, and SP Swapnanil Deka.
During the rally, an awareness session was held at Jakhalabandha bus stand, where Minister Keshab Mahanta emphasized the importance of road safety and public awareness. He stated that preventing road accidents is a crucial social responsibility and highlighted the government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and enforce traffic regulations.
District Commissioner Devashish Sarma also spoke, stressing that road safety is a collective responsibility requiring public awareness and cooperation. He urged locals to follow traffic rules and exercise caution while driving.
Later, essential equipment was distributed among the forest staff in the Bagori, Burhapahar, and Ghorakhati ranges of Kaziranga National Park to aid in wildlife protection. Additionally, an awareness session was held at Kuthari Tiniali, a high-accident zone, focusing on road safety, speed control, and caution.
