New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that several students are stuck in Ukraine at the moment amid Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Speaking to media today, Assam CM said, '' We are in touch with Indian Embassy. We have also apprised the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) about the students from Assam who are stuck in Ukraine''.

Meanwhile, Indian Embassy in Kyiv has said that alternative arrangements are being made for evacuation of Indian nationals.

''This is to inform you all Indian nationals in Ukraine that since the Ukrainian air space has been closed, the schedule for special flights stands cancelled. Alternative arrangements are being made for evacuation of Indian nationals,'' it said.

''Embassy will convey information as soon as such arrangements are finalized, so that Indian nationals can relocate to the Westernport or the country. Please carry your passports and necessary documents on your persona at all times,'' it added.

The embassy further requested that them to follow Embassy website and social media posts for updates in this regard.

According to reports, around 20,000 Indian students are pursuing higher education in Ukrainian universities.
