Sibsagar Commerce College prepares for golden jubilee celebration

GAURISAGAR: Sibsagar Commerce College, one of the premier institutes of Upper Assam established in the bank of the historic Sivasagar Tank, has completed glorious 50 years. A year-long golden jubilee programme was organized in association with the college fraternity, alumni, governing body and well-wishers. The concluding function of the golden jubilee will be held with a three-day long programme from June 29 to July 1.

On Tuesday evening, the reception committee organized a press meet where the secretary of the reception committee-cum-Principal of the college, Dr Saumarjyoti Mahanta gave details of the programme.

On the first day, a colourful cultural event will be held among the alumni, teachers and employees of the college. On the second day, the programme will start with the hoisting of golden jubilee flag by Biren Baruah, president of the reception committee. The college flag will be hoisted by Principal Dr Saumarjyoti Mahanta. At the same time, the symbolic 50 flags will be hoisted by distinguished persons of Sivasagar. An exhibition will be held which will be inaugurated by Dipali Chaliha, former Principal of the college. A seminar will also be held on the topic ‘Higher education of present day’. Dr Ranjit Tamuli, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University will inaugurate the seminar.
