Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav inspects Krishi Vigyan Kendra

SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Aditya Vikram Yadav visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sivasagar of Assam Agricultural University recently.
Dr Prodip Handique, Head & Senior Scientist of KVK Sivasagar, welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and presented in brief about the mandated activities of KVK along with various scientific programmes carried out for the benefit of the farming community.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed his interest in various technologies i.e., quality seed production, climate resilient rice varieties (Ranjit Sub-1. Bahadur Sub-1, Numali, etc), high-yielding late sown toria variety TS 67 for double cropping, Azolla cultivation for animal feed as well as for soil fertility management, soil fertility management methods, improved animal and poultry breed, cultivation of various disease resistance vegetable varieties, mushroom cultivation, apiculture, preservation and processing etc.
He also inspected the existing demonstration plots like Apple ber plot, Assam lemon mother plant plot, Dragon fruit plantation plot etc. newly-constructed Amrit Sarovar unit, paddy seed storage facility and machinery unit of KVK, Sivasagar, Green House with Assam lemon (seedless) cuttings, black pepper cuttings, dragon fruit cuttings and ornamental flower multiplication unit, Cow shed, Piggery unit, poultry unit and duckery unit, Vermicompost unit and Fodder unit of KVK, Sivasagar.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the scientists and staff of the KVK and urged them to extend their work so that maximum farmers can get the benefit. He also emphasized development of seed village and Azolla production for low cost animal feed. He also interacted with few farmers and entrepreneurs present there.
