TEZPUR: In order to maintain law and order, ensure public tranquillity, and prevent loss of human lives and property while protecting and preserving the forests and wildlife in various picnic and tourist spots in Sonitpur district, the District Magistrate of Sonitpur, Ankur Bharali, has issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
Accordingly, the following prohibitions have been imposed across Sonitpur district, including popular locations such as Debisingh Ghat, Rudrapad, Jahajghat, Bishnu Rabha Smriti Udyan (Kalibari), Ganesh Ghat, Bamuni Hills, Trimurty Udyan, Bhumuraguri, Kanaklata Memorial Park, Chakighat (Jamuguri), Sonaipam (Chariduar), and other picnic and tourist spots:
Gathering of people for picnics or feasts at all picnic and tourist spots after 4:30pm is strictly prohibited. The use or dumping of non-biodegradable plastic and other plastic products in and around picnic spots, river ghats, and tourist places is prohibited.
The use of high-volume loudspeakers, DJs, public addressing systems, and microphones in and around the picnic spots/river Ghats/Tourist places is prohibited. The selling, buying, and consumption of alcohol in and around picnic spots, river ghats, and tourist places are strictly prohibited. Littering and open defecation in and around the picnic spots/river ghats/ tourist places is prohibited.
This order comes into immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice. Violations of these directives will be punishable under the provisions of Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The public is urged to comply with these directives in the interest of safety, environmental conservation, and maintaining public order.
