Static Surveillance Team seizes Rs 10,50,000 in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: A Static Surveillance Team led by Circle Officer Dr Sanjib Phukan seized an amount of Rs 10,50,000 from the possession of one Raj Kumar Gupta of Sadiya after intercepting a Maruti Baleno car bearing number AS 23V 1831 near Thermal Gate on NH-37 in Tinsukia constituency on Thursday. The amount was concealed inside the car seat. Gupta claimed before the officials that he was carrying the cash for payment to a grocery wholesale trader. The sleuths IT department were examining the documents till filing this report. The amount will be deposited to the treasury, said Dr Phukan.
