Substandard construction of Nayapur-Diyungmukh Road irks people

Haflong: Substandard construction of Nayapur-Diyungmukh Road has irked the people of Nayapur-Diyungmukh as the road was their long-standing demand and when completed, would be of great help to them.

Construction of the road from Nayapur-Diyungmukh of length 16.260 km, including cross-drainage works and routine maintenance of the works for five years under PMGSY, Package No. AS-18-075 (under PMGSY-III, 2020 1506 21, Batch - 1) under DIYUNGBRA block was with construction amount of Rs. 12,01,04,100. The completion period was nine months.

As roads always play a pivotal role for socio-economic development, the people of Nayapur and Diyungmukh area had been demanding a good road following which the present government also considered their demand by sanctioning this road. But the construction works of the road are allegedly poor and government norms have not been followed.

People have urged the officials and contractors concerned to construct the road with sincerity and honesty. Meanwhile, the Assistant Executive Engineer in-charge, B Handique, however, assured to improve the works.
