Thief looted Rs.1 lakh in cash by breaking lock of almirah arrested in Biswanath district

Biswanath Chariali: Acting on an information that some thieves had entered into the house of one Gautam Ghosh located at Chatarang under Gohpur PS in Biswanath district the previous night and stolen around Rs.1 lakh in cash by breaking the lock of the almirah, Gohpur Police registered a case no. 68/ 2020 u/s 457/ 380 of IPC and started investigation. Accordingly, the prime accused (juvenile in conflict with the law) Rahul Ghosh (16), son of Shankar Ghosh of Chatrang, was apprehended on Tuesday night and was interrogated upon. On the basis of his confession, the police managed to recover Rs. 38,000 stolen cash, two new bicycles (purchased out of the stolen money) and two new high-end smartphones. Further, efforts are on to nab two accomplices of the prime accused.
