3 Illegal Sand-land Trucks seized in Kamrup district

BOKO: Hahim Police under Boko Police station seized three illegal sand-laden trucks (AS 01KC 8732, AS 01MC 7782 and NL 02IQ 7111) in Hahim area along the Assam-Meghalaya border in Kamrup district on Thursday morning.

Some sand smugglers have been mining sand from Hahim River in the Hahim area and near the Hahim Forest Beat Office. But the forest department in Boko under the West Kamrup Divisional Forest office has allegedly failed to stop deforestation and illegal sand mining.

When asked about this, Biswajeet Roy, Forest Officer of Hahim Beat forest office, said that they lacked adequate forest staff and that was why they had failed to stop the illegal sand mining.
