TINSUKIA: The three-day celebration of Tinsukia District Foundation Day concluded at TDA Cultural Complex on Saturday with a varied cultural extravaganza in an assembly of dignitaries.

Labour and Tea Tribes Welfare minister Sanjay Kishan, who was present as chief guest, lit the ceremonial lamp followed by a Devdashi dance recital by the artistes of Nityangon Kala Kendra. Narsing Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, earlier welcomed the guest with a brief history of the district's transition in the past three decades.

The presentation of Zilla Geet by the employees of Tinsukia district administration wearing respective cultural attires enthralled the audience. The souvenir Hollong edited by Bimal Borgohain and published on the occasion was released by Sanjoy Kishan while Uttam Duarah, former professor of English in Women's College, elaborated the history of Tinsukia. Celebrated folk singer and Padmashree awardee Dulal Manki also presented a song along with popular singer Neel Akash.

The students of Sarbajonin Balika HS School presented a Bihu dance. In sync with the programme 33 water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission Scheme were inaugurated simultaneously by minister Kishan. The day also marked with the holding of a workshop on multiple cropping by Agricultural Department, a farmers' meet by KVK Tinsukia, inauguration of Wall Book at Thana Chariali, health check-up camps at TDA Cultural Complex, SDO offices of Sadiya and Margherita. The valedictory programme at TDA Cultural Complex was attended by all civil officials, leading citizens of Tinsukia. Minister Kishan urged all citizens of the district to support administration for all round holistic development of Tinsukia district.
