Traditional mask art workshop begins at Bokakhat National School

BOKAKHAT: A special workshop on traditional mask-making for students began on Saturday at Bokakhat National School, organized by the Visual Art Academy, and will continue until July 24. On this occasion, the inaugural ceremony of the workshop was held on Saturday at the school premises, where the ceremonial lamp was lit by Bokakhat Press Club Secretary Uttam Saikia.

The event, inaugurated by artiste Bijoy Tanti, was attended by Assam State Journalists Association President Jeetu Sharma Rajkhowa, Bokakhat Press Club President Bhabananda Kalita, Greater Kaziranga Journalists Forum President Swapan Nath, EMJA representative Dibyajyoti Hazarika, EMJA Secretary Sudipta Tamuli, noted woman Rupjyoti Saikia Gogoi, senior citizen Chinmoy Dhar, journalist Dhrubajyoti Saha, artiste Papu Ghosh, artiste Banod Gogoi, and Soneshwar Norah from Bokakhat National School.

The event, hosted by Geetirekha Dutta, featured Majuli’s renowned mask artistes Bijoy Krishna Hazarika and Dibyajyoti Goswami as resource persons. Over the course of the five-day workshop, these traditional mask-making artistes from Chamguri Satra in Majuli will train the participating students under their leadership.
