SILCHAR: Assam government is mulling for setting up of a trenching ground at Silchar, stated Guardian Minister for Cachar Ashok Singhal. On Friday morning. Singhal visited the site of the trenching ground at Meherpur. Singhal also inspected the site of the existing trenching ground and took stock of the situation.

Speaking to the media persons, Singhal said, Silchar is the second urban sprawl in the entire state after Guwahati and a place like Silchar which is densely populated required a proper garbage management system. Considering these aspects, the government had already planned for setting up of a trenching ground at the existing place."

" Assam Government has formulated a plan and as a Guardian Minister of this district, I already had a discussion with Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma", Singhal added.

" Today I have visited this place and will have a round of talks with Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli and other concerned officials associated with this project regarding preparation of a master plan for setting up of a trenching ground so that a proper garbage disposal can be made maintaining hygiene and ensure trenching ground doesn't cause any kind of pollution to the neighbouring areas," Minister Singhal said. "We seek cooperation from the people in the government's noble effort for making this city a better place to live," he added.
