New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday sparked controversy with her recent tweet against the Ahom community.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Moitra while reacting to unparliamentary words tweeted, ''My first of new twitter series on replacements for unparliamentary words.

Banned word- Sexual Harassment Replacement- Mr. Gogoi.''

The remark made by Moitra, who is very close to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has created an uproar in Assam.

The tweet garnered strong reactions and one of these reactions was from Veer Lachit Sena leader Shrinkhal Chaliha who criticized the comments made by Moitra.

"This is a very insulting comment to us. Gogoi is an honorable title for the entire Assamese nation. I, a Trinamool leader, will not tolerate this act of Assamese. I have requested that action be taken against him soon," he was quoted as saying in media reports.

Chaliha further said that they have urged the Assam government to take action against her soon.

There has been also a strong reaction in Assam over a tweet by the Trinamool Congress MP from Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal. The word sexual harassment also figured in many words that were recently recognized as unconstitutional words in Parliament.

As per reports, a few organizations in Assam has been on fire following such comments of Moitra.

The title Gogoi in the Ahom community refers to a particularly respectable and dignified title of the Ahom dynasty.
