GUWAHATI: A truck loaded with pigs crashed in Burhapahar area of Assam on Sunday leaving several pigs injured while a few others died on the spot.

The unfortunate incident took place on Sunday 30 January in the Burhapahar range area which is in the Nagaon district of Assam.

As per reports the truck loaded with pigs was heading towards Dimapur city in Nagaland from Punjab.

The truck crashed as the driver lost control over the vehicle and then it fell off the road.

It is reported that the majority of the pigs inside the truck died following the accident while many others sustained severe injuries.

A few of the pigs managed to save themselves from getting injured during the accident and they ran towards the forest area of Kaziranga National Park.

After the sudden accident, the road was blocked by authorities for over two hours.

There have been several road accidents occurring in different parts of the state which led to the great loss of lives.

In a recent incident on Sunday 30 January, an Assam police official was killed in Assam's Dergaon after meeting a road accident. The cop was identified as Mrigen Bora who was serving in the Jorhat district of Assam.

During the accident, he was on a motorcycle moving towards Dergaon. The accident took place as the police officer lost control over his motorcycle and then it hit an electric post on the side of the road. He died on the spot after sustaining severe injuries to his head.

In yet another road accident in the Baksa district of Assam, two children and a woman lost lives after meeting a truck accident. The three deceased were on the scooty heading towards their home at the time when the two-wheeler hit the truck in NH-127.
