Silchar: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday visited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarter in Silchar located in the Cachar district of Assam.

The Chief Minister on his visit to the RSS office in Silchar met the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat who is on a 5-day tour of Assam's Silchar.

Mohan Bhagwat visited Silchar on Thursday 27 January and is expected to leave on Monday 31 January.

Both RSS chief and Assam CM held meetings in the RSS office which continued for more than an hour.

The security-related activities in the area were strengthened before the Chief Minister reached the area on Sunday. The CM also met the local people in the region after meeting the RSS chief.

On his visit to the Lakhipur town in the Assam's Cachar district, CM Sarma made the major announcement about the construction work of an integrated SDO (C) office and also a Stadium. The construction activities of both stadium and SDO cost a total of Rupees 37 crore.

The CM also took to Twitter to share the information and wrote that Rupees 25 crore will cost in completing the construction work of an integrated SDO (C) office and the stadium will cost Rupees 12 crore.

In the tweet, the chief minister added that there will be upgradation in the government hospital transforming them into a 100-bed civil hospital. He also said that a GNM nursing institute will be established along with a science stream at Nehru College in Silchar.

In improving and ensuring proper connectivity in Assam, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for constructing the balance activities of the Shaheed Nandachand RCC bridge located over the Chiri river on the Sibpur-Lakhipur road in Silchar.

The construction activities of the bridge were stuck for a long period of time because of the expiry of the contractor as informed by the CM's tweet.
