Vocational Training on Planting Material Production Begins in Nagaon

NAGAON: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon organized a five-day long vocational training programme on commercial planting material production of major horticultural crops at Krishi Vigyan Kendra premises from today.

Navajyoti Bora, Director of Rudseti, Nagaon, ceremonially inaugurated the programme in the morning session. Dr Niranjan Deka, Principal Scientist and the Head of KVK, Nagaon, welcomed the guests as well as other attendees and participants and spoke on the prospect and importance of the programme in context to the current situation.

Juli Sarma, Course Director and SMS, Horticulture, KVK, Nagaon, initiated the programme with a slew of theoretical as well as practical sessions featuring on different techniques of planting material production generation, vermicompost production techniques, seed production techniques, agricultural economics of nursery, allied sectors like animal science and fishery, etc.

During these five days, expert scientists from KVK, Nagaon will initiate the training session-wise on their respective subjects, deliberating theoretical as well as practical guidance to the participants. Sources from KVK, Nagaon informed that the programme will come to an end with a valedictory session on March 25.

Over 28 participants including 26 undergraduate students from Botany Department, Nagaon ADP College and two expert farmers from Rampur Satra, Dhing took part in the vocational training programme this time.
