GUWAHATI: The Mizoram Chief Minister's office (CMO) informed on Wednesday that Chief Minister Zoramthanga is under isolation and being quarantined after he came in contact with a COVID-19 positive person in the state.

The CMO further informed that Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga's isolation has affected the normal working of his office and that all meetings and interviews currently scheduled with CM Zoramthanga have been postponed for the "time being".

The Mizoram CMO in a tweet informed, "HCM @ZoramthangaCM is currently quarantined as per COVID-19 SOP (after a positive contact). This has affected the normal working of his office to a certain extent. Meetings requiring the CM's presence or personal contact as well as interviews may be put on hold for the time being."

Meanwhile, this tweet from the Mizoram CMO has instantly sparked off several controversies amid the ongoing border row between the two states that led to the death of seven persons, including six police personnel while injuring 50 others.

Twitterati from both sides of the border ended up in a blame game as shortly after the CMO tweeted the information a Twitter user commented, "Assam police power is very strong. One day Assam Police justify you."

Another user and evidently belonging from Mizoram said, "#shameonassam Now u've jeopardized the health of our beloved Cm #shameonassam"

The war of words continued with fiery comments questioning the genuineness of the Mizoram CMO's information. The tweet read, "Nothing can be more absurd than this. Height of in competency."

According to political analysts, the unavailability of the Mizoram CM for resolution and peace talks under such tense circumstances might lead to an escalation of the problems at the Assam-Mizoram border. It is also being said that the pace of dispute resolution might be hampered at this point of time.
