A workshop on ‘Bio composting: Conversion of waste into wealth’ was organized by the Environment and Climate Cell of Bhola Nath College, Dhubri recently.

DHUBRI: A workshop on 'Bio composting: Conversion of waste into wealth' was organized by the Environment and Climate Cell of Bhola Nath College, Dhubri recently. The workshop was sponsored by ASTEC, DST, Government of Assam in collaboration with Kalpajyoti Foundation (NGO) at the college premises.
The Principal of Bhola Nath College, Dr. Dhruba Chakrabortty welcomed the participants in his inaugural speech and explained the purpose of the workshop. In his speech, Dr. Chakrabortty also described the need and use of bio fertilizer in agricultural practice at the present time as well as need of waste management everywhere for a clean and green environment.
Coordinator of the Cell, Dr. Samuel Sheikh acted as the resource person of the programme. Dr. Samuel presented a PPT on the preparation of the bio fertilizer from the bio degradable waste generated in the college campus followed by hands-on training of production of bio fertilizer in the bio composting unit of the college. A good number of students, local farmers and school teachers participated in the programme.
Coordinator IQAC, Dr. Susmita Sen Gupta, Puranjay Mipun and Lily Terangpi of the Department of Botany of the College were also present in the programme. A good number of members of Kalpajyoti Foundation extended all help in organising the programme successfully.
