
IMPHAL: The Manipur Police successfully apprehended five active members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KCP), specifically the City Meitei faction, during an operation in Mantripukhri Thakurbari, located under the jurisdiction of Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District.
The arrested youths are identified as Laishram Bulu Singh (26), RK Nelson (19), Lairelrakpam Thoiba Singh (27), Kangujam Jebash Singh (28), and Boyamayum Zabirkhan (19). It was an ongoing operation against the insurgent activities in the region.
From the possession of the arrested members, law enforcement officials recovered a range of dangerous items. This included one 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eleven live rounds, as well as two 36 HE hand grenades. Additionally, three mobile phones, a sling bag, and a sum of Rs. 5,700 were seized. A four-wheeler was also confiscated during the operation.
Forces have also recovered a large stock of weapons and explosives in another major security operation in Bishnupur District, including an AK-47, a 2-inch mortar, and hand grenades near Phougakchao Mamang Leikai. Improvised explosive devices and ammunition were also seized in the operation, which demonstrated efforts toward illegal arms trafficking.
The police stressed that arrests and seizure of firearms and currency were the important milestones in their campaign against any insurgent groups operating in the region. Further investigations were conducted in order to ascertain the operational scale and possible linkage with other bigger groups. The police assured to bring peace and stability to the state of Manipur.
