Manipur Police Nabbed Three Cadres of Militant Outfit PREPAK (Pro) in Thoubal District

The police recovered a grenade, PREPAK demand letters, three mobile phones, and one motorcycle from the arrested individuals.

THOUBAL: Police in Manipur's Thoubal district arrested three cadres of the banned militant outfit People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) on Thursday. The arrested members of the outlawed group were involved in extortion, a police statement said.

"Acting on information that some active cadres of the PREPAK organization are loitering in and around the Thoubal Athokpam area, a combined team of Commando Unit Thoubal and a column of 4 Assam Rifles [AR] led by Collateralized Debt Obligations [OC-CDO], Thoubal, under the supervision of Sr. Superintendent of Police Thoubal District, rushed to the area near HDFC Bank and arrested three active cadres of the unlawful organization around 4 p.m. on Wednesday [Dec. 11]," it said.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Nambram Indrajit Singh, Rajkumar Mohen Sana, and Warepam Albert Meitei Thoi. The police recovered a grenade, PREPAK demand letters, three mobile phones, and one motorcycle from their possession.

During interrogation, the arrested cadres of the militant outfit admitted that they were involved in extortion from schools, colleges, and government offices in the Thoubal district, under the instruction of one Sinthoiba from their organization, as per the statement. The Thoubal Police Station received the arrested individuals and the seized items for further necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, security forces, during separate search operations in Churachandpur and Chandel districts, recovered 10 firearms and a cache of ammunition, another police statement said.
