SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 12 fresh COVID-19 cases and an equal number of persons recovered from the viral infection. Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that out of the 12 new cases, 11 were recorded in East Khasi Hills and one in East Jaintia Hills.

The State now has 148 new cases and the total recovered cases stands at 13,412. East Khasi Hills is the most affected district with 100 active cases. Of the 11 cases registered in East Khasi Hills, seven are from the Umpling cluster, two from Laitumkhrahcluster, one from the Nongrim cluster and one is a returnee. Of the 12 persons who recovered during the last 24 hours, seven are from West Jaintia Hills, two from East Khasi Hills and one each from South Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and Ri-Bhoididtricts. Meanwhile, SW Khasi Hills, SW Garo Hills, S Garo Hills and E Garo Hills — are presently COVID-19 free.
