SHILLONG: BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai expressed concern over the long pending boundary dispute and stated that from his side he will take up this matter through ‘party level’ talks with the Assam government.

It may be mentioned that recently, the Meghalaya police had to dismantle a border outpost at Psiar village which is along the interstate border with Assam.

“On the incident at Psiar village which is near the Assam border, I will call a meeting with leaders of the party in Meghalaya with an objective to find a permanent solution to this matter concerning the problems faced by the people of that village and later we will also discuss this matter with the BJP leaders in Assam,” Shullai told The Sentinel.

He also informed that Meghalaya unit of the BJP will discuss the matter with its counterparts in Assam and will also take up the matter with Himanta Biswa Sarma, a senior leader of the BJP, to lead the talks with the government of Assam to remove the problems encountered by the people staying in the interstate border.

He also said that the party is hopeful that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will hold talks with his Assam counterpart soon to speed up the discussion process and solve boundary dispute once and for all.
