BJP Targets 4,000 More in Shillong

SHILLONG: The BJP is targeting to enroll 3,000 members from the constituencies of Shillong and another 1,000 members from other constituencies of Meghalaya.

According to State convenor of the BJP Ernest Mawrie, the party in the State has so far received 20,000 fresh members who enrolled online, even as around a lakh application form were printed for offline enrollment.

He informed that in Jaintia Hills, the BJP got 4,000 new members, in Garo Hills region the BJP has enrolled 30,000 new members whereas, in East Khasi Hills, including Shillong city, 40,000 new members were enrolled into the saffron party.

According to the State convener of the BJP, the membership drive will be initiated from August 12 to 31.

“Any member who can enroll minimum 25 persons, is eligible to become an active member and eligible to be selected as state office-bearer in different capacity/responsibility within the party setup,” Mawrie said.
