Curfew relaxed in East Khasi Hills, Shillong

Staff Correspondent

Shillong: Just when the clock struck 9 am on Friday morning, residents of Shillong and its suburbs rushed and stood in a queue in designated open shops and fair price outlets to procure their basic essentials. East Khasi Hills district is under curfew since the lockdown and the district administration eased the curfew hours from 9 am to 5 pm on Friday thereby bringing a sense of relief to the citizens especially to the lower-income group.

The Sentinel visited many parts of the city to get a first-hand glimpse of the situation. While there are many places that adhered to social distancing with a mask-cover during the time, there were certain pockets that the police and the volunteers had to reprimand people for violating the directives issued by the government.
